DPR Korea to meet USA again

Baku: DPR Korea who beat the USA to become champions in the first edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2008 will again be eye to eye with the Americans after a draw on Friday put them together in Group B of this year's edition to be held in Azerbaijan. The Asians defeated the USA 2-1 after extra time to win the inaugural edition and clinched fourth place in the 2010 edition in Trinidad and Tobago. Another Asian representative, Japan, were drawn into Group C with Mexico, New Zealand and Brazil keeping company while China PR have been put together with Uruguay, Ghana and Germany in Group D. The other Group B contenders are France and Gambia. FIFA Head of Women's Competitions Tatjana Haenni presided over the draw ceremony for the biennial tournament. Korea Republic emerged champions after beating Japan 3-3 (aet) 5-4 (pens) in the final of the 2010 edition while DPR Korea were fourth after losing 1-0 to Spain. This year’s edition will be held on 22 September-13 October in Azerbaijan's capital city of Baku and Lankaran.
